School field trip detours to gun show without permission

A South Carolina school trip took an unexpected detour.

Kids were taken to a gun show and some parents were outraged.

The trip was for elementary school kids to take a look at what life would be like in middle school. But they ended up at an armory–and without their parents’ permission.

One substitute teacher on the trip captured photos of the incident.

Students were being shown different types of guns.

One woman says her son was on the trip, and she was shocked by what he said next.

“When we got done with that show, my son said, ‘Ma, I need a .22 Caliber,'” Williams Memorial Elementary School parent Belinda Guice said. “You took away my right, you took away all of these other kids’ parents’ rights to allow for me to tell you if I want my son to be introduced…to be introduced to this type of stuff.”

That parent says she tried to speak to teachers and principals but she has yet to get a response.
