PETALUMA (KRON) — A school bus transporting special needs students collided with a car in Petaluma on Washington Street and Maria Drive Thursday afternoon, according to police.
A male child on board suffered a minor injury and was taken to Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center as a precaution, Battalion Chief Chad Costa said.
The female driver of the half-ton pickup and her child also suffered a minor injury but were not taken to a hospital, Costa said.
The accident happened around 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of East Washington Street and Maria Drive. The truck broad-sided the bus and blocked the intersection, Costa said.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident because it involved a school bus, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said. Sloat also said the injuries were minor.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area as lanes are closed.
