MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (AP) – A Virginia school is asking parents to check their children’s backpacks and pockets daily after an 8-year-old boy brought bullets to class.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Cold Harbor Elementary School sent a letter Monday to some parents of students in a second-grade class notifying them of the incident.
Assistant Principal Allison Hunt Mullens wrote in the letter that a child brought four bullets to school and showed them to other students. The letter says the bullets were shown in a nonthreatening manner and there was no weapon.
A teacher was notified, and the bullets were confiscated. The letter says no students were in danger.
