Who knew that Disneyland Walt Disney World were reportedly among the most popular places for families to scatter ashes of their loved ones?
Custodians at the theme parks claim that guests have scattered ashes so many times that it’s even prompted a special code word for cleanup, according to The Wall Street Journal.
That code word is HEPA, which refers to an ultrafine vacuum cleaner that needs to be used.
Custodians tell the publication it happens once a month and some places are more popular than others.
“The Haunted Mansion probably has so much human ashes in it that it’s not even funny,” one custodian told WSJ.
Other popular areas where ashes are reportedly spread include flower beds and water rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and It’s a Small World.
A spokesperson told WSJ that the spreading ashes at the park is “strictly prohibited and unlawful. Guests who attempt to do so will be escorted off property.”
Guests reportedly sneak ashes in pill-bottles or plastic bag hidden in purses or backpacks, according to the publication.
