Santa Rosa police investigating attempted kidnapping

SANTA ROSA (KRON) — Police officers with the Santa Rosa Police department are investigating an attempted kidnapping at an elementary school.

At 6 p.m. Thursday officers arrived at the Kawana Elementary School in the 2100 block of Moraga Drive and found a young girl who said that a man had tried to kidnap her.

The girl told police that she was walking to the restroom during an after school program when she saw a man standing near the restrooms on the west side of the campus.

Police said that the girl used the restroom, but as she was leaving, the man approached her and grabbed her wrist. He then threatened to kidnap her.

The student was able to break free and ran from the area.

The young girl says the man ran away and got into an older model light brown four door sedan with a broken driver’s window.

The car was seen going north on Moraga Avenue after leaving the school parking lot.

Officers checked the area for the male subject and vehicle but were unable to locate either. The male subject was described as a white male adult, 5’10″ with a thin build, dirty in appearance wearing a white tank top and blue jeans.
