Santa Rosa Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Car Wherein 2 Injured

SONOMA CO. (BCN) — One person was killed and two others were critically injured in a collision between a motorcycle and car just outside of Santa Rosa Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., a 62-year-old Santa Rosa woman was driving a white 2002 Subaru Outback east on Occidental Road and turned left onto Piezzi Road, CHP officials said. The woman did not see an approaching 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600 heading west and was unable to stop her vehicle in time, according to the CHP. The motorcycle collided head-on into the right side of the Subaru, CHP officials said.


The driver of the motorcycle, Usama Halaweh, a 20-year-old man from Santa Rosa, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials Sunday.

A passenger on the motorcycle was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for critical injuries, CHP officials said.

A 72-year-old Santa Rosa man who was a front passenger in the Subaru also suffered critical injuries and was also taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to the CHP.

The roadway was closed until shortly before 6:30 p.m. for officers to gather evidence and document the collision, according to the CHP.
