Santa Rosa motel guest suffers critical head injuries in gang assault

SANTA ROSA (BCN) — Santa Rosa police said a man at a motel suffered critical head injuries when he was attacked in his room by gang members early this morning.

The 29-year-old victim and a group of friends were smoking marijuana in a room at the Motel 6 at 2760 Cleveland Ave. around 1:30 a.m. when a group of people next door confronted the victim’s friend and asked which gang he claimed, police Sgt. John Cregan said.

The group of suspects identified their gang and shouted derogatory challenges to the victim, Cregan said.

The suspects then entered the victim’s room while he was alone, violently kicked and punched him and then fled, Cregan said.

A guest reported the assault and officers found the semi-conscious victim with critical head injuries on the floor of the motel room, Cregan said. He was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment.
