SANTA ROSA (KRON) — A Santa Rosa man is in the hospital after being stabbed while in his apartment early Friday morning.
Around 12:38, Santa Rosa police offers were called about the stabbing in the 1500 block of Boston Couty.
When they arrived, they found a 29-year-old man bleeding on the floor of his apartment.
The man’s neighbor, 21-year-old Brandon Cerda Hidalgo, was also there, having been detained by another neighbor.
Police think that Hidalgo stabbed the other man because he thought the victim had been making sexual advances toward his wife.
Hidalgo lives in the apartment above the victim. Police said that he went to the victim’s unit, armed with a knife and banged on the door. His wife followed him there, yelling for him to stop.
Police allege that when the victim answered the door, Hidalgo stabbed the man several times.
The victim’s two small children were asleep in an adjacent room when this happened.
Another neighbor said that he heard what was happening and came to help. He told police that he was able to get the knife away and pull the suspect away from the victim.
Hidalgo was arrested for attempted murder.
The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
