SANTA ROSA (BCN) — A fire at a home in Santa Rosa Sunday afternoon displaced five people and caused an estimated $60,000 in damage, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 157 Pope Court at 4:45 p.m., fire officials said.

Fire crews arrived to find an exterior wall and the attic of the two-story home engulfed in flames.

Fire officials said firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the second floor by covering the area with tarps prior to battling the blaze inside the attic.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within about 20 minutes, fire officials said.

Recently burned materials from a back yard fire pit that had been disposed of in garbage cans adjacent to the house appeared to have sparked the blaze, fire officials said.

Five people who were displaced from the fire received help from family and friends, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported.
