SAN RAFAEL (KRON) — A woman from San Rafael is accused of driving under the influence and crashing into a tree and power pole early Tuesday morning, a San Rafael police lieutenant said.

The crash occurred on Manuel T. Freitas Parkway between Lea Drive and Montecillo Road, around 1:15 a.m. and knocked out electric power to 1,235 PG&E customers,police officials said.

According to a PG&E spokesperson, about 60 customers have had power restored, and PG&E expects full restoration by 5 p.m. today.

The suspect is identified as Carissa Jane York, 36, of San Rafael, who was injured when her 1996 Ford Crown Victoria struck the tree and power pole.

She fled her vehicle but was quickly apprehended.

Police were in the area before the crash checking on a report of an argument in the backyard of a residence, and York is suspected of being involved in that argument.

She was taken to Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center and is accused of DUI, driving on a suspended licensed with a prior DUI and violating probation for DUI, police officials said.Bay City News contributed to this report.
