SAN PABLO (KRON) — A teacher at Lake Elementary School has been arrested, accused of having inappropriate conduct with students.

Thursday, the San Pablo Police Department told officials with the West Contra Costa Unified School District that they had arrested teacher Derek Hunter.

The alleged inappropriate conduct had been reported to the police by school district personnel.

Hunter has been removed from campus and placed on administrative leave.

According to the West Contra Costa Unified School District website, Hunter also served on the school site council for Lake Elementary.

In a statement, officials with the District said, “school and District officials are cooperating fully with police in the investigation into this matter and are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff.”
