REDWOOD CITY (KRON)– A maintenance worker at a San Mateo senior center has pleaded no contest to stealing from residents in the fall of 2014.
On Monday, 37-year-old Eric Gamboa entered his plea of no contest to six counts of residential burglary in exchange for a maximum sentence of four years in prison, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Gamboa was arrested by San Mateo police on October 21 on suspicion that the employee was using his work years to enter condos at the Versailles Senior Center, located at 10 Crystal Springs Road in San Mateo. Police say that Gamboa had been stealing cash and jewelery from residents over the prior two months.
Gamboa was caught in the act by a supervisor who saw a key missing. Prosecutors said that an investigator found missing property of Gamboa and also in his car.
He’s been connected to size separate burglaries at the luxury senior center.
Gamboa is scheduled to be back in court on August 19 for sentencing.
