SAN MATEO (KRON)—A fire that burned a commercial building in San Mateo on Thursday night has caused $100,000 in damage, fire officials said.

Firefighters from the San Mateo and Foster City fire departments responded to reports of smoke coming from a single-story building on West 20th Ave. around 8 p.m.

The fire burned parts of the ceiling and attic before firefighters called for more help.

Crews were able to put out the fire in about 40 minutes and spent about an hour putting out small fires from smoldering embers.

No injuries were reported and no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.

The roof and the attic have been damaged.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
