SAN MATEO (BCN) — PG&E officials said they do not yet know the cause of a power outage affecting about 400 customers late this morning in unincorporated San Mateo County and Redwood City.
The outage started at 10:10 a.m. and was initially affecting as many as 1,635 customers along Fair Oaks Avenue between Douglas and Second
avenues and along Second Avenue between Fair Oaks Avenue and U.S. Highway 101, PG&E spokesman Denny Boyles said.
The outage also knocked out power to many traffic signals in the area, Redwood City police said.
Motorists are encouraged to treat inoperative signals as stop signs. Intersections with four-way signals should be treated as four-way stops, police said.
Motorists at any intersection with an inoperative signal should proceed with caution, police said.
Crews expect to have power to all customers restored by 12:30 p.m., Boyles said.
