SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — San Leandro Police are asking the public for help to identify a group of suspects who are notorious for vandalizing cars in the city and the areas around it. Recently, the suspects have escalated to shooting towards people as well.
Police are estimating damages to be around $60,000. The suspects have been seen driving a light-colored SUV while vandalizing parked vehicles with the use of BB guns. The most recent incidents occurred on March 24 and March 25 where the suspects shot at people walking on San Leandro streets.
“This is becoming dangerous,” stated Lt. Robert McManus. “Windows can be replaced. However, these suspects have become violent since they’ve begun to shoot at people. A BB can cause serious injury. It’s crucial that the public help us in identifying these suspects as soon as possible before someone gets seriously hurt,” he said.
Over 125 vehicles have had their windows shattered as a result, the San Leandro Police Department estimates. Patrols have increased throughout San Leandro to help the situation.
