SAN JOSE (KRON) — California’s massive drought has prompted the San Jose Water Company to set monthly water limits for its 1 million customers.
The company’s decision makes the South Bay city the largest city in the state to limit water for its users.
John Tang, the spokesperson for the San Jose Water Company, says that customers will be notified of the change by mail. All customers will also be invited to a public hearing in May or June, before the new rules take effect.
The decision to limit water comes as California’s water companies across the state are rolling out similar fee structures in an attempt to avoid the $10,000-per-day fine Gov. Jerry Brown says is the consequence for not meeting conservation targets.
