SAN JOSE (KRON/BCN) — Regular and express light-rail service between Civic Center and St. James stations in downtown San Jose has been suspended today through Sunday for repairs, according to Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority officials Thursday.

Workers are replacing a part on a rail line, VTA spokeswoman Stacey Hendler Ross said.

Northbound passengers must take a bus shuttle between Civic Center and St. James stations and then can get on any northbound train. Mountain View-bound passengers must transfer at Baypointe, Ross said.

Coming from Mountain View, passengers must transfer at Baypoint. Then southbound passengers can take a train to the bus shuttle at Civic Center and then to a Winchester or Santa Teresa train, Ross said.

Bus lines 66 and 181 will be re-routed to North Fourth Street, VTA officials said.

A temporary stop has been set up for the 66 line near the intersection of North Fourth Street and East Empire Street.

Traffic will be detoured on First Street in both directions near the Japantown/Ayer station, which is closed during repairs, according to VTA officials.

Residents may hear noise from the cutting of rails, demolition work, alarms from vehicles backing up and other construction work, VTA officials said.
