SAN JOSE (KRON) — San Jose police have arrested a 29-year-old teacher accused of having sexual intercourse with a student, police said.

According to Ofc. Albert Morales, Summit Tahoma Charter School teacher Zachary Drew had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student at the school. He has been booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail, police said.

On Feb. 17, a parent contacted police about a rumor that a 17-year-old student had a sexual relationship with a teacher at the charter school sometime in 2015, Morales said.

During their investigation, detectives identified Drew as the suspect.

On Wednesday, police said Drew turned himself in.

He has been charged with three counts of sexual Intercourse with a minor and three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. All are felonies.
