Here is the full statement from the CHP:

On Thursday, March 15th, 2018, at approximately 9:50 AM, the driver of a 2009 Bluebird School Bus was traveling north on US-101, south of the Hedding Street over-crossing, in the city of San Jose. The driver was traveling in the far right lane at approximately 40 MPH, and began to slow for traffic ahead. Just prior to bringing his vehicle to a complete stop, he felt an impact from behind, and he pulled the bus to the right shoulder. The driver of the second involved vehicle, a tan Ford Taurus, also pulled onto the right shoulder, directly behind the School Bus. A student on board the bus used their cell phone to capture a picture of the vehicle, it’s license plate, and a partial photo of the solo driver prior to them leaving the scene without identifying themselves. The license plate was identified as a California plate of 8BEJ916, registered for a 2004 Ford out of the city of Santa Clara. The vehicle is reported to have moderate front end damage, and the driver was described as an elderly Caucasian female. Four of the students on the bus reported minor injuries and two of them were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Anyone with any information regarding the hit and run vehicle or it’s driver is asked to contact the
San Jose CHP office at (408)467-5400 and ask to speak with Officer Morasco.
