San Jose man arrested on suspicion of trying to rob acquaintance

MILPITAS (BCN)—Milpitas police arrested a San Jose man last week on suspicion of attempting to rob an acquaintance.

Michael Lam was arrested Sunday afternoon Oct. 2 in a residential area of Milpitas, according to police.

At about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 1, a resident of Heath Street saw Lam and another person approach her home.

As Lam spoke with her, he allegedly pointed a semi-automatic pistol at her and demanded money. Lam and the other person eventually left the area in a silver Honda Accord without any money or property, police said.

As officers tried to arrest Lam, he allegedly crashed into and damaged two police vehicles to escape.

But officers were able to arrest Lam without injuring him or getting injured.

Allegedly, Lam had a loaded gun with him when officers took him into custody. Also, detectives discovered he had a $100,000 warrant for his arrest for violent offenses in Gilroy.

Officers booked Lam into the county jail on suspicion of attempted robbery and weapons offenses.
