SAN JOSE (KRON) — San Jose police have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a woman before fatally stabbing a man in July, Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.
Twenty-year-old Luis Alfredo Sandoval, of San Jose, is a suspect in the death of 22-year-old Eric Christopher Hampton, of Oakland, during the early morning hours of Jul. 24, Garcia said.
The 20-year-old man is alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman before the stabbing, according to police.
Around 1:45 a.m. that day, officers responded to a report of a person stabbed in the area of South Second and Martha streets and found a man later identified as Hampton, police said.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries, according to police.
Detectives identified Sandoval as a suspect and arrested him in Los Altos on Friday, police said.
The death was the city’s 28th homicide this year, according to police.
