San Jose (KRON) Firefighters have knocked down a two-alarm fire in San Jose that  broke out this afternoon, a fire spokesman said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a fire shortly before 4 p.m. on Waterton Lane, just north of Berryessa Road, fire Capt. Christopher Salcido said.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a two-story building, which is either an apartment or condominium, Salcido said.

Eight people inside the building evacuated and have been displaced by the fire, according to Salcido.

More than 40 firefighters have responded to the scene, he said.As of 5 p.m., the fire was knocked down, Salcido said.

No injuries were reported.
