(KRON) Thousands of kids will get a free backpack Friday.
Sacred Heart Community Service is handing out 3,300 kids and their families who can’t afford back to school supplies.
This is the 14th annual backpack giveaway in San Jose.

Five years ago, Sacred Heart distributed 2,100 backpacks to children in the community. Every year this number increases due to many factors, primarily related to the high cost of living in Silicon Valley coupled with the increase in cost for school supplies.
