SAN JOSE (KRON) — The San Jose Fire Department battled a one-alarm fire Tuesday morning, where eight people were displaced and crews were forced to provide oxygen for a dog, a department spokesman said.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the 1700 block of Ross Circle, just east of Camden Avenue, shortly after 9:30 a.m., San Jose Fire Capt. Christopher Salcido said.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames at the rear of a two-story apartment building with four units, Salcido said.
Everyone who had been inside the structure evacuated before firefighters reached the scene, he said.
The blaze was found in a bedroom at an upstairs unit and was controlled just before 10 a.m., according to Salcido.
A fire K-9 assessment team resuscitated and provided oxygen to a resident’s small dog that appeared to be lethargic, Salcido said.
The resident then took the animal to a veterinarian for further treatment, according to Salcido.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the eight people displaced by the fire, Salcido said.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Bay City News contributed to this report
