San Francisco police have arrested a man they say committed a “hot prowl” burglary in the Ingleside District.
The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Tabri Akeem Austin.
The incident happened Mar. 26 at a home on the 100 block of Goettingen Street.
There, police say Austin held a female homeowner captive inside a bathroom while he snatched her items.
Burglary investigators were able to analyze collected evidence and attain search warrants.
Authorities then arrested Austin at his San Francisco home on Wednesday.

San Francisco Police Make Arrest in “Hot Prowl” Burglary On March 26, 2018, SFPD patrol officers assigned to the Ingleside District responded to a “Hot Prowl” burglary call from a residence located on the 1000 block of Goettingen Street. Officers located a female victim and conducted a search for the suspect inside the home, but the suspect fled prior to the officer’s arrival. The victim told the officers a male suspect entered her home, grabbed her, took her cell phone, and threatened her. The suspect brandished a hammer and ordered the victim to give him all of her money. The suspect forced the victim to open a safe. The suspect held the victim captive inside a bathroom and continued to burglarize the home. The victim remained in the bathroom until the suspect fled. SFPD patrol units, crime scene investigation officers and Burglary Unit investigators arrived at the scene and began their investigation. During the course of the investigation, Burglary investigators were able to analyze collected evidence and attain search warrants. On June 13, 2018 at approximately 11:55 AM SFPD officers and SFPD Gang Task Force Unit identified and arrested the suspect, Tabari Akeem Austin, a 28 year-old San Francisco resident, on the 1300 block of Egbert Ave. SFPD Burglary investigators booked Austin for Home Invasion Robbery using a hammer, 211 PC (1st Degree), Residential “Hot Prowl” Burglary, 459 PC (1st Degree), Kidnapping while committing a robbery, 209(b)(1) PC, Grand Theft of a Person, 487(a) PC, and False Imprisonment, 236 PC. The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office filed on the above charges, in addition to bail enhancements, Armed with a Deadly Weapon, 12022(b) PC, Offense committed while on bail, 12022.1 PC.
