San Francisco Marathon: What you need to know

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — From BART closures to street closures, this Sunday’s San Francisco Marathon will affect travel for people in the city and drivers using the Golden Gate Bridge.

Streets in the city will close at midnight and stay closed until 2:45 Sunday afternoon. The bridge will stay open the whole morning but runners will take up a few lanes.

Drivers will have two southbound lanes and just one northbound lane headed to Marin County.

The bridge returns to normal around 10 a.m. Sunday.

The starting point for the marathon is along the Embarcadero at Mission Street. The route winds its way through the city, then across the bridge and back.

The finish line is at Embarcadero and Folsom.

You’re also going to have other races, half marathon, 5K, all together.

26,000 people are expected to attend.
