SONOMA COUNTY (BCN) — A bicyclist suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run on River Road in unincorporated Sonoma County late Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers responded around 11:40 a.m. to the collision west of Woolsey Road and west of Santa Rosa.
The 77-year-old San Francisco man struck while on his bike was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. CHP Officer Jon Sloat said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
CHP officials said the vehicle involved was a white sedan, possibly an older model Kia or Ford, that drifted onto the shoulder while heading west and struck the bicyclist. The sedan was last seen turning east toward Santa Rosa.
The impact ejected the bicyclist off his bike and down an embankment, according to the CHP.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the CHP at (707) 588-1400.
