SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco lawmakers are trying, again, to cut down on the amount of sugary drinks consumed.

Lawmakers tried to do something similar just seven months ago, but voters said no.

Monday, citing public health, San Francisco supervisors met to discuss three different proposals regarding sugary drinks.

One of them would require soda ads posted on buses, billboards and other public places to carry warning labels. The labels would warn people that drinks with added sugar contribute to problems like obesity, diabetes and tooth decay.

The other proposed laws would ban soda ads on public property and prohibit city money being used to buy drinks with added sugar.

The American Beverage Association is planning to fight the new legislation.
