SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Crews from the San Francisco fire department trained at Ocean Beach in preparation for the holiday weekend, Sunday morning.
Firefighters said with the holiday a lot of people are expected to be at the beach. It is not uncommon for residents or visitors to be caught in a situation that could lead to fatality.
According to Lt. Johnathan Baxter here are some tips to follow when at the beach.
- Stay aware of strong rip currents.
- Avoid large shore breaks
- Avoid cold water temperatures (could lead to hypothermia)
- Go to beaches with trained stationed lifeguards
