SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The company who employed a window washer who survived an 11-story fall from a San Francisco office last year received five citations and was fined $12,765 for violations related to the accident.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Century Window Washing of Concord was cited for failing to secure the roof with fall protection equipment and inadequate training.
Pedro Perez was moving equipment on the roof of a bank building in November 2014 when he fell onto a moving car.
Dr. Paul Doherty, a physics professor, later said it took about three seconds for Perez, falling at an estimated speed of 60 mph, to hit the car, which acted as a big shock absorber and saved his life.
A spokeswoman for Century Window Washing said they would not comment on the citations, which can be appealed.
