San Francisco (KRON) — San Francisco police are battling an increase in crime that spiked between 2014 to 2015. KRON4 has been looking into the recent rash of property crimes and came across stats for all crimes in 2015.

The information comes as the city is dealing with two recent high profile violent crimes, including the fatal shooting of Kate Steinle on Pier 14.

On Tuesday, two suspects were arrested after robbing and shooting a tourist in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood. The shooting happened just after 12 p.m. near Lombard and Jones streets. The victim was struck in the shoulder and is okay. The incident ended with a chase in Emeryville where the suspects were arrested.

And In July, Kate Steinle was shot and killed on Pier 14 which is along the popular Embarcadero area where tourists frequent daily to enjoy views of the Bay.  Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, 45, an undocumented immigrant, has pleaded not guilty to Steinle’s murder. He has been booked into San Francisco County Jail for homicide.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said yesterday that two new cadet academies would soon graduate which would add officers to beat patrols.Crime Statistics comparison through June 2015City-Wide (Violent Crime)                                        2014                           2015    Difference
