SALINAS (BCN) — A man was arrested in Salinas Saturday night on suspicion of probation violations including suspected firearm and drug possession, police

said.

Just before 9:30 p.m. an officer made a stop for a minor traffic violation at East Market Street and Eucalyptus Drive.

Officers removed the driver, 20-year-old Fausto Arellano, front-seat passenger Michael Serrano, 20 and a 17-year-old backseat passenger to search the car, according to police.

Officers found a .40 caliber semi-automatic gun, ammunition, about 2.4 grams of cocaine and 25 grams of methamphetamine, police said.

Arellano was booked into county jail on suspicion of firearm possession and possession of a controlled substance for sales.

Serrano was found to be on probation with gang terms and was also booked into county jail, police said.

The 17-year-old boy was released to his mother, according to police.
