Rain? No biggie. Snow? Bring it on.
Postal carriers are used to braving the elements, but what about insects?
One California neighborhood briefly lost its mail service due to an infestation of fleas.
The United States Postal Service says the problem was so bad in a Rosemont neighborhood, their letter carriers had to flee fleas.
“I check every morning, and when I give them a shower,” resident Miguel Lemos said. “I don’t see a problem.”
Lemos says he walks the neighborhood every morning with his four Yorkies.
“That’s Rosaline, that’s Donald Trump, that’s Enrique Pena Nieto, and that’s Marco,” Lemos said.
He says none of them ever come home with fleas.
“Never had a problem,” Lemos said.
Still, for days, mailboxes here stayed empty.
Residents had to get their mail up at the post office a few miles down the road.
But then today, armed with boxes, letters, flyers, and a can of flea repellent, the letter carriers came back.
The USPS spokesman said their carriers came back to the post office with flea bites, but despite that red flag, they are willing to brave this neighborhood once more, with repellent, “in an attempt to continue to provide outstanding postal service.”
County officials say there is not much they can do about the flea infestation because it is on private property.
The postal service says they hope residents will take action to remedy the problem.
