DAVENPORT, IOWA (CNN) — A puppy in Iowa has a reason to live.
“Rudolph,” now being called a miracle, survived a euthanasia attempt.
“He’s a miracle, dog, absolutely,” said Kylie Jo Mitchell with Kings Harvest Pet Rescue.
The little pup is a wonder to all.
“I’ve never heard of anything like this before ever, this is a first,” said Mitchell.
Rudolph is an 8-month-old Lab American Pitbull mix whose paws shouldn’t be on the Earth today.
“He was euthanized and when they returned to that room they came back and Rudolph was alive,” Mitchel said.
That was at a shelter in Oklahoma.
Since them, Rudolph was brought to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue where he has become an instant internet sensation.
When Jacob Hommer saw the photo, he couldn’t resist.
“My family and I, we have bred Siberian huskies to give to combat veterans, Purple Heart recipients, combat wounded veterans,” Hommer said.
Hommer traveled two and a half hours from Des Moines this morning in hopes of giving Rudolph a home with a veteran in Colorado.
“I sent him the story on this dog. I said ‘check this dog out and it’s an incredible story’ – he was so moved by it and emotional that he was like ‘I have to have this dog,'” said Hommer.
Hommer thinks that with the rights training, Rudolph could make the perfect partner.
“Having a dog, it gives you, it’s something to wake up and fight for and especially a lot of these vets that are struggling having a reason to get up in the day,” he said.
Proving dogs truly are a man’s best friend.
“Everybody has been really interested in this boy,” said Mitchell.
And this litle wonder…
“He’s going to be worn out after today, just all these people,” said Hommer.
Finds the right home.
