SONOMA COUNTY (BCN) — A 20-year-old gang member pleaded guilty to two separate counts of robbery and will serve up to 18 years in prison.

Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced Friday that Christian Sanchez-Caballero, of Rohnert Park, entered guilty pleas on two counts of first degree robbery with enhancements for using a firearm and acting with a second gunman during the crimes.

In exchange for the pleas, burglary and kidnapping charges against Sanchez-Caballero were dismissed, and he agreed he would serve 18 years and four months in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

On May 15, 2013, three young adults were in their home watching television when Sanchez-Caballero and another suspect rang the doorbell and forced their way into the home.

Prosecuters said the suspects were both armed with handguns and were wearing ski masks and gloves, and one held the victims at gunpoint in a bathroom while the other went through the home, gathering jewelry, cash and other valuables.

One of the suspects pistol-whipped one of the victims, and the suspects then fled the apartment with the stolen property.

Police responded to the home and located a vehicle near the crime scene that belonged to Sanchez-Caballero’s girlfriend and was loaded with items stolen from the home and the ski mask and gloves worn by Sanchez-Caballero during the robbery.

Police were able to link Sanchez-Caballero to the robbery using forensic DNA and fingerprint analysis.

Sanchez-Caballero is scheduled for sentencing on August 27th.
