SONOMA CO. (BCN) — A man was injured Friday in a boating accident on Lake Sonoma, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office marine unit responded to the lake at 2:52 p.m. after receiving a call about a man injured while operating his personal watercraft. Emergency crews located the man at the lake’s public boat ramp, deputies said.
The man’s friends told deputies he was in his personal boat traveling at a high rate of speed when he crossed the wake of another boat and became airborne. The man was launched from his watercraft and thrown into the lake. He was wearing a flotation device and his friends were able to help him after the incident, deputies said.
The Rohnert Park man suffered an injury that was not considered life threatening and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Deputies said alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the incident.
