(KRON) Richmond police arrested a 20-year-old woman Thursday night who rammed a police cruiser before leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended in Berkeley.

An officer was trying to pull over the woman, whose name was not released, for a traffic violation on South Eighth Street in Richmond at about 10:30 p.m. when she attempted to flee, police spokesman Lt. Felix Tan said.

The suspect drove down a dead-end street, turned around and drove directly at the officer’s car, ramming it before continuing to evade officers, Tan said.

The chase continued eastbound on Interstate 580 and into the streets of Berkeley before the suspect and her two passengers abandoned the car near Strawberry Creek Park. They were taken into custody on the 1200 block of Allston Way after a brief foot chase.

Only the driver was arrested after the chase and no shots were fired during the chase or arrest.

The driver is not suspected to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol and has no outstanding warrants.
