RICHMOND (KRON) — Richmond police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man on Monday.

54-year-old Bryron Fairbanks was arrested on suspicion of murder for the murder of Robert Fitch.

When officers got to the 2600 block of McBryde Avenue. around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, they found Fitch on the ground in front of a house. He had been shot in the lower body.

Fitch was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Witnesses told police about a man who left the area after the shooting. Just a few blocks away, officers were able to locate a man, later identified as Fitch, who matched the description given to police by the witnesses.

Detectives are still investigating the shooting, but according to Richmond police Sgt. Nickole Abetkov, they think that the two men knew each other.
