SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A shining tower of wealth and prestige is apparently sinking.
The Millennium Tower is the high-rise home to some of San Francisco’s A-listers.
But a new report said the 58-story tower in downtown San Francisco is sinking and tilting.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Millennium Tower, that finished in 2008, is sinking 16 inches and even tilting a couple of inches.
A spokesman for the tower is putting blame on San Francisco’s neighboring Transbay Transit Center project, saying a half-mile tunnel was built next to the building and the Millennium Tower was not properly “protected.”
The sinking is not considered a huge safety problem for residents, but it could certainly affect the residents’ investments.
It is also expected to set the stage for big lawsuits that could hit taxpayers.
