NASHVILLE (KRON) — The Oakland Athletics have agreed to sign former closer John Axford, a source told MLB.com Wednesday.
The A’s have not yet announced the acquisition, which is pending a physical.
In an attempt to bolster their beleaguered bullpen last season, the A’s have acquired four relievers this offseason — Liam Hendriks, Marc Rzepczynski, and Ryan Madson.
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman tweets that the deal for the “Ax Man” is a two-year, $10 million deal. Axford will turn 33 in April.

Axford had a 4.20 ERA in 55 2/3 innings last season for the Colorado Rockies. He converted 25-out-of-31 saves and lost the closer’s role mid-season.
The San Francisco Chronicle first reported the signing.
