Report: Church of Scientology, Tom Cruise to launch CNN inspired network

LOS ANGELES (KRON) — Recent rumors that Tom Cruise is leaving the Church of Scientology are just that–rumors, according to a new report. The Daily Mail Online says that in fact, nothing could be further from the truth, as the Mission Impossible star partners up with the Church to open a new studio and launch a TV news network.

The Daily Mail says the network is being dubbed “Scientology’s CNN” and will operate out of a new $50 million Hollywood studio, as part of a plan to take on major movie studios, the TV networks, and cable stations.

The studio, called Scientology Media Productions is being built on Sunset Boulevard, not far from Cruise’s West Hollywood mansion, reports the Daily Mail. The online publication also says the facility will be used to make ‘propaganda’ movies to recruit more followers while Cruise himself is set to use the studio to film his big movies.

The Daily Mail says the Church is describing its Scientology Media Productions as “the emphatic answer to that most vital question of how we will in fact catapult into the next dimension… we will be capable of reaching virtually every person on Earth.”

Former Scientology member Sinar Parman is quoted as saying the network will cover “anything and everything, it’s their version of CNN, but who wants to watch that stuff?”
