(KRON) — A report from the Department of Fish and Wildlife shows 52 percent of mountain lions analyzed had recently eaten cats, dogs, or other domestic animals.
Out of 107 mountain lions legally killed in 2015, the stomach contents of 83 were analyzed. Supposedly deer are their favorite prey but only 5 percent of the mountain lions had eaten them.
That is probably because pets are so much easier to catch. In Placerville recently, a man rescued his still-traumatized looking dog from a mountain lion.
Attacks happen all the time and experts said it is a reminder to guard your pets carefully when they’re outside.
