SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The world is in shock after news broke that Prince was found dead at the age of 57 in his Minneapolis home Thursday.

The pop superstar was one of the best-selling recording artists of all times with worldwide hits like “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry.”

Celebrities and fans took to social media to express their disbelief and to remember the music icon.

Sheila E. took to twitter to express her grief, “My heart is broken. There are no words. I love you!”

Billy Idol tweeted “Oh my god I can’t believe that Prince has died…he was a great great talent…RIP.”

Gene Simmons said, “PRINCE, sad to say, has passed on!!!” He continues to tweet that “he was a Giant. My deep condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.”

Katy Perry also sent out a tweet after learned of the singer’s death: “And just like that…the world lost a lot of magic ✨ Rest in peace Prince! Thanks for giving us so much…”

Prince performed in Oakland last month when he was visiting for a funeral. He also went to a Golden State Warriors Game.

Ayesha Curry shared of photo of Prince at the Warrior’s game with a broken heart emoji and the caption “Gone way too soon.”

Deborah Cox tweeted out that she is “speechless” and “heartbroken.”

La Toya Jackson praised Prince for his “incredible talent” and said that she was “terribly sorry to hear that #Prince has passed.”
