OAKLAND (KRON) — Firefighters in Berkeley are battling a 3-alarm, one-acre fire burning in Grizzly Peak on Thursday afternoon, according to a tweet from firefighters.

It is burning in the area of Grizzly Peak and Fish Ranch Road in Berkeley, just north of the Claremont intersection. Oakland firefighters, Cal Fire, and the Moraga-Orinda Fire District, are battling the blaze.

The fire broke out at around 4:25 p.m. near Orinda and Moraga.

No injuries or property damage reported. The fire’s progress has been stopped, firefighters said.

The communication tower on the hill was threatened, but did not sustain any damage, crews said. Grizzly Peak Boulevard will remain closed in the area of the fire but other roads have been reopened.

Fire crews will remain on scene for many hours mopping up and monitoring hot spots.
