OAKLAND (KRON) — The Oakland Raiders responded to the President Trump, Marshawn Lynch feud over the running back sitting for the National Anthem prior to the Patriots game in Mexico City.

At a press conference Monday, head coach Jack Del Rio made it clear that he did not want to discuss it saying “bottom line, I’m here to coach the football team.”

Del Rio also responded to his wife’s tweet about her displeasure for President Trump’s tweet.

Linda Del Rio’s tweet stated “President Trump I voted for you, which I now regret. Football is a powerful platform -here’s the charitable work we did in Mexico City #NFLproud.”

She has since taken down her entire Twitter account.

Del Rio said he thinks she was offended “because I think she thinks there are so many things that go on that are good about the league and would like to see get more attention. I think that’s really what she was saying, but I can’t speak for her.”

Lynch sat during most of the U.S. anthem and stood for the Mexican anthem before Sunday’s game against the Patriots at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Lynch hasn’t stood for the national anthem since returning from retirement this season.

Trump tweeted early Monday: “Great disrespect! Next time NFL should suspend him for remainder of season. Attendance and ratings way down.”

Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the movement last season when he refused to stand during the anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality.
