A judge has granted the prosecution’s request to have a psychiatrist conduct a mental exam on the man accused of fatally stabbing 18-year-old Nia Wilson.
She was the teen killed at Oakland’s MacArthur BART station last July.
Two previous experts who interviewed the suspect, 28-year-old John Lee Cowell, disagreed on whether or not he is fit to stand trial.
The judge also ordered Cowell to return to court on May 6 to determine which of his psychiatric records will ultimately be provided to the prosecution.
Cowell is currently being held without bail.
