Powerful storm brings rain, high winds to Bay Area

A powerful storm system resulting in heavy rainfall along with the potential for flooding and very strong winds hit the Bay Area Friday night. 

Friday morning started off pleasant as the commute into work wasn’t impacted by the storm. 


Light rainfall swept across the Bay Area during the afternoon hours and made for a wet commute home from work. 

Shower activity will pick up into the overnight hours with the heaviest of rainfall happening Saturday morning between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m.

That’s when the strongest winds and greatest potential of flooding is also expected. 

Flash Flood advisories remain in effect for the Bay Area, especially in small streams and urban areas prone to flooding. 

Expect intense winds as well, with very windy conditions starting Friday night bringing peak wind gusts of up to 50 mph. 

Power outages are likely.
