According to PG&E power was restored to residents around 2:30 p.m.

Officials say approximately 18,195 residents in the Petaluma area are without power Sunday.

The cause is under investigation.

At this time the Petaluma Water Department is requesting residents affected by the power outage to limit or refrain from using any water if possible until power is restored.

PG&E officials say the outage was first reported around 10 a.m.

Right now there is no estimated time power will be restored.

The Petaluma Police Department has received multiple reports of a widespread power outage affecting west Petaluma Sunday.

Police say the dispatch communication center is receiving many 911 calls regarding the outage and people are encouraged to only call 911 in the event of an emergency.

Remember if you are encounter a traffic intersection where the traffic lights are not functioning, stop as you would for a stop sign and proceed through when safe.
