UPDATE 4:17 PM: (BCN) — A power outage affected more than 5,800 PG&E customers in Berkeley today but all customers have since had their power restored, a utility spokeswoman said.
The outage was reported at 11:36 a.m., affecting 5,864 customers along Martin Luther King Jr. Way between University Avenue and Berryman Street, as well as other nearby areas, PG&E spokeswoman Mayra Tostado said.
Roughly half of the affected customers had power restored as of shortly after 1 p.m., and the remaining ones were back in service as of 3:20 p.m., Tostado said.
PG&E crews remain in the area making repairs this afternoon and the cause of the outage is under investigation, she said.
UPDATE 2:39 PM Most of the power has been restored to customers, according to PG&E. The power was restored at 2:20 p.m. Only 119 customers are without power, according to PG&E.
There is still no known cause to the outage.
BERKELEY (KRON) — 2,748 customers are left without power in Berkeley, according to PG&E. Initially, 5,864 customers had lost power. The outage was first reported at 11:36 a.m.
As of 1:13 p.m., power was restored to over half of the customers leaving nearly 3,000 people without power at the moment.
The outage happened near San Pablo and went up into the Berkeley Hills and between University and Hopkins.
The cause is under investigation. Crews are working as quickly as possible to restore all of the power to the area.
