LAFAYETTE (BCN) — Pacific Gas and Electric crews are on scene working to restore power to several residents in Lafayette after a transformer blew late last

night.

PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said the outage, which was reported at 11:49 p.m., originally affected 3331 customers from Springhill Road to Prado Way, but within minutes was restored to many residents leaving 258 without power.

Guidi said a large tree branch came down into power lines at Martino Road and Springhill Road causing the transformer to blow.

Lafayette firefighters were contacted as a small fire broke out as a result of the downed lines, however a firefighter said residents put the fire out before fire personnel arrived.

No injuries were reported.

According to Guidi several crews are working to safely and quickly fix the downed lines, and power is estimated to be restored around 8 a.m. this morning to the remaining residents.
